All activities must directly relate to biomedical or health-focused research.

Eligibility

An eligible applicant:

  • Must be an ANTHC or SCF researcher or faculty member at UA or Ilisagvik College when the application is submitted and travel occurs. Staff and UA postdocs are eligible for support via an application from the appropriate research supervisor.
  • Must have filed an INBRE report for any previous INBRE-sponsored professional development.

See the Funding Opportunity Announcement below for additional information.

Award Details

Up to $2,500 may be awarded per applicant per INBRE funding cycle (April 1 – July 31). Funding may be used for a single event or multiple activities, provided the total amount does not exceed $2,500 per year. INBRE-sponsored travel (e.g., Network-wide Annual Research Conference) is not included in this limit.

Travel must follow standard UA or partner institution procedures. UA applicants must charge expenses to their department’s general fund and submit required documentation for reimbursement processing. Partner institutions follow a separate process detailed in the award letter.

Application Requirements

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed at monthly INBRE leadership meetings. A complete application includes:

  • Name, date, and website of the conference or event
  • Presentation or poster title, if applicable
  • A description of how the activity supports INBRE’s One Health theme
  • Department general fund number for UA applicants
  • A letter of support for postdocs or staff applicants

Applicants are encouraged to apply at least two months before the activity to allow adequate time for review and processing.

Review Criteria

Preference is given to applications that align with INBRE’s research aims and achieve multiple goals, such as presenting research and obtaining professional development training . Reviewers also consider engagement with INBRE-supported collaborators, prior award reporting, and the overall impact of the activity on the applicant’s career development and Alaska’s research community.
