NARC
Network-Wide Annual Research Conference (NARC)
The Alaska INBRE Network-Wide Annual Research Conference (NARC) is a yearly, in-state gathering designed to showcase INBRE-funded research, promote collaboration, and foster a stronger research community across Alaska. The conference centers on the One Health theme and brings together participants from across the state to celebrate accomplishments and build lasting scientific connections.
The conference happens every year in September. Due to a late Notice of Award, the 2026 conference will be held in April. Dates, times and location will be announced soon.
Research Celebration and Networking
The NARC highlights the achievements of INBRE-supported researchers from the past year through keynote presentations, platform talks, and poster sessions. It’s an opportunity to share scientific progress and explore new ideas through face-to-face engagement. Attendees include piloted investigators, student researchers, and other members of the Alaska research network.
Statewide Participation and Support
Travel, lodging, and meals are provided for INBRE program participants, including pilot and research project investigators, graduate and undergraduate research assistants, and DSC and RAC awardees. Other researchers and students may apply to attend, with funding support considered on a case-by-case basis.
Registration and Logistics
All attendees must register to participate. A registration list will be shared at the conference to encourage continued professional connections. Once registered, participants will receive detailed logistical information via email.
Meals are provided for INBRE participants only. As the event typically takes place at a seasonal venue, such as the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, we recommend attendees bring snacks and plan accordingly, as amenities may be limited.
Building a Connected Research Network
The NARC is a cornerstone event for strengthening collaboration among Alaska’s IDeA-eligible institutions. With long distances and geographic barriers between sites, the annual in-person meeting provides a rare and valuable chance for researchers to build cross-institutional relationships. These connections are essential to advancing the shared vision of a robust, One Health-oriented research network in Alaska.
